Marc Chagall
Marc Chagall is a Russian-Jewish painter. His Avant-Garde and unique style includes the audacious use of color along with distinctive and child-like composition. As a multifaceted yet prolific painter, Chagall created his own style, combining characteristics of several modern art movements such as Cubism, Expressionism, Symbolism and Surrealism. Chagall illustrated happiness and compassion in most of his paintings throughout his career, seen in his work, Great Circus, people in the picture are in distinct and vivid colors, and the whole painting is filled with surprise.

Claude Monet is a French Impressionist who initiated, led, and advocated the Impressionist style. Monet emphasized on his technique of light expression in his works. In doing so, Monet often painted a series of same objects over and over again in order to capture the changing effects of light. Monet said, "Its's on the strength of obsevation and reflection that one fins a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly." Also, Monet used very limited palette in his works, mostly banishing browns or earth colors.

Gustav Klimt is an Austrian Symbolist painter. He often used elegant gold and colored decoration in his paintings. Klimt's work frequently portrays female dominance, love and life. Also, Klimt uses symbolic elements to convey psychological ideas in order to depart from the conservative artistic culture. He pursues freedom in his paintings as well.

Picasso exhibition in Taiwan
There is an art exhibition of Pablo Picasso in Taipei, Taiwan from 6/18 to 9/18. About sixty original works are on display in the National Museum of History. I am a big fan of Picasso and his paintins but i did not have any chance to see the real artistic creation since most of the paintings are in Musee National Picasso in Paris. This exhibition contains Picasso's work from Blue Period, Rose Period, African Period, to Cubism. These works from different periods demonstrate Picasso's sentiments toward his lovers, father, and children. I was amazed by Picasso's wide range of artistic styles.

Head and Shoulders of a Woman (Study for "Les demoiselles d'Avignon") is one of my favorite works of Picasso. This paint symbolizes a beginning of the use of definitive lining around the physique.

Child Playing with a Truck is another work that I like a lot.
Picasso was already seventy or eighty year old when he drew this work, yet the whole painting expresses the child-like innocence and joy.
